By placing an order with us (via our website, by telephone, or by email), you agree to be bound by these Terms & Conditions. Please read them carefully before ordering. If you have any questions, contact us at help@coboltfurniture.co.uk or call 01279 972 616.
1. Quotations & Ordering
1.1 Validity: All quotations are valid for 7 calendar days from the date of issue unless otherwise stated in writing. Prices may change after this period.
1.2 Accuracy: It is the Buyer’s responsibility to check all quotation details — including product codes, quantities, finishes, dimensions, and delivery address — before confirming an order. We cannot accept responsibility for errors in orders that have been confirmed by the Buyer.
1.3 Contract Formation: A binding contract is formed only when we dispatch the goods or send a written Order Confirmation, whichever occurs first. We reserve the right to decline any order prior to dispatch.
1.4 Order Amendments: If you need to amend an order after confirmation, please contact us as soon as possible. We will do our best to accommodate changes, but amendments may not be possible once items have entered production or dispatch.
2. Products & Specifications
2.1 Product Updates: Our product range is regularly updated. We reserve the right to alter specifications, designs, or materials without prior notice, provided the change does not materially affect the performance, safety, or appearance of the item.
2.2 Images & Descriptions: Product descriptions, dimensions, and photographs are provided for guidance. Due to screen calibration and photography lighting, actual colours may vary slightly from those shown online. Natural materials such as wood may vary in grain and tone between units.
2.3 Compliance: Products supplied for use in educational, healthcare, or public sector environments are tested to the relevant British and/or European standards as indicated on individual product pages. Compliance certificates are available on request.
3. Prices & VAT
3.1 VAT: All prices displayed on our website are exclusive of VAT unless explicitly stated otherwise. VAT will be applied at the prevailing UK rate at the point of checkout or invoicing.
3.2 Price Display: Our website allows you to toggle between Inc VAT and Ex VAT pricing for your convenience.
3.3 Pricing Errors: Despite our best efforts, pricing errors may occasionally occur. If we discover an error in the price of goods you have ordered, we will contact you as soon as possible and offer you the option of reconfirming at the correct price or cancelling your order for a full refund.
4. Payment Terms
4.1 Public Sector & Government Bodies (30-Day Credit Accounts)
The following organisations automatically qualify for 30-day credit terms:
- Schools, academies, and multi-academy trusts
- Universities and further education colleges
- NHS trusts, GP surgeries, and healthcare bodies
- Local councils and government departments
- Ministry of Defence
- Registered charities (subject to approval)
A valid Official Purchase Order (PO) must be submitted to help@coboltfurniture.co.uk. Payment terms are strictly 30 days net from the invoice date.
We reserve the right to charge interest on overdue balances at 4% above the Bank of England base rate, in accordance with the Late Payment of Commercial Debts (Interest) Act 1998.
4.2 Business & Consumer Customers
For all other customers, payment must be made in full at the time of order via:
- Credit or debit card (Visa, Mastercard, American Express)
- BACS or CHAPS bank transfer (pro-forma invoice available on request)
- Shop Pay or PayPal
Goods will not be dispatched until payment has cleared in full.
5. Delivery & Access
5.1 Delivery Charges: Standard delivery to the UK mainland is free on all orders. Surcharges apply to Scottish Highlands, Islands, and Northern Ireland — these will be confirmed before dispatch.
5.2 Lead Times: Delivery dates provided are estimates and not guaranteed. While we make every reasonable effort to meet quoted timescales, we cannot accept liability for costs incurred by the Buyer (such as contractor waiting time) as a result of delays beyond our control.
5.3 Standard Delivery: Unless a Gold Delivery or installation service has been purchased, delivery is to the nearest accessible kerbside point or ground floor reception. It is the Buyer’s responsibility to arrange for goods to be moved into the premises.
5.4 Heavy Goods: Items marked as ‘Heavy Goods’ are delivered by pallet on a vehicle with a tail-lift. The Buyer must ensure adequate access and have sufficient personnel available to receive and move items. Full details are available on our Heavy Goods Delivery page.
5.5 Failed Deliveries: All deliveries require a signature. If delivery fails because no one is available to receive the goods, we reserve the right to charge a redelivery fee.
5.6 Inspection on Delivery: The Buyer should inspect goods upon delivery and note any visible damage on the carrier’s paperwork before signing. See Section 7 for our damages procedure.
6. Cancellations & Returns
All returns require prior authorisation. Please email help@coboltfurniture.co.uk with your order number before sending anything back. Unauthorised returns will not be accepted.
Items manufactured to your specification (custom colours, sizes, fabrics, or finishes) are non-returnable and non-refundable unless faulty.
A 24-hour cooling-off period applies from the time the order is placed. After 24 hours, production costs may have been incurred and cancellation may not be possible, or may be subject to a cancellation fee.
Bespoke and made-to-order items are clearly identified on the relevant product pages. If you are unsure whether an item is made to order, please check with us before placing your order.
Standard stock items may be returned within 30 days of delivery. This applies equally to business buyers and individual consumers.
To be eligible for a return, items must be:
- Unused, unassembled, and in their original condition
- In the original packaging (do not write on or damage the product box)
- Authorised by our team before being sent back
How to return: Email help@coboltfurniture.co.uk with your order number. We will issue a Return Authorisation Number and guide you through the next steps.
Return shipping: Once your return is authorised, we will advise whether we can arrange a collection (which may be subject to a fee) or whether you will need to return the item using an insured courier of your choice. Return shipping costs are the Buyer’s responsibility unless the item is faulty.
Restocking fee: A restocking fee of up to 25% may apply. Any applicable fees will be communicated before you return the item.
Refund: Once we have received and inspected the returned item, your refund will be processed within 10 working days to your original payment method, less any applicable restocking or collection fees.
Under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013, individual consumers (not acting for business purposes) have a statutory right to cancel an order for standard stock items within 14 calendar days of receiving the goods.
Our 30-day returns policy exceeds this statutory minimum and applies to all customers. Your statutory rights are not affected by these Terms.
7. Damages & Faulty Goods
7.1 Reporting Timeframe: Any damage, defect, or shortage must be reported in writing to help@coboltfurniture.co.uk within 48 hours of delivery. Please include your order number, a description of the issue, and clear photographs of the damage and packaging.
7.2 Visible Damage: If damage is visible at the point of delivery, please note this on the carrier’s delivery paperwork before signing. This helps us process your claim more quickly.
7.3 Remedy: Where goods are confirmed as faulty or damaged in transit, we will arrange a repair, replacement, or refund at our discretion. We will cover return shipping costs for confirmed faulty items.
7.4 Exclusions: Our liability does not extend to damage resulting from fair wear and tear, misuse, neglect, improper assembly, unauthorised modification, or use in conditions the product was not designed for.
8. Risk & Retention of Title
8.1 Risk: Risk in the goods passes to the Buyer upon delivery (or upon the Buyer’s nominated representative signing for the goods).
8.2 Title: Legal ownership of the goods remains with Displaysense Ltd until payment has been received in full. Until title passes, the Buyer must store goods separately and in a manner that identifies them as the property of Displaysense Ltd.
9. Limitation of Liability
9.1 Our total liability for any claim arising from or in connection with the supply of goods shall not exceed the invoice value of the goods in question.
9.2 We accept no liability for any indirect, consequential, or incidental losses, including but not limited to loss of profit, loss of business, loss of goodwill, or business interruption.
9.3 Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud, or any other liability that cannot be excluded by law.
10. Force Majeure
We shall not be liable for any failure or delay in performing our obligations where such failure or delay results from circumstances beyond our reasonable control, including but not limited to: natural disasters, pandemics, strikes or industrial action, supply chain disruption, government restrictions, war, or acts of terrorism. In such circumstances, we will use reasonable efforts to mitigate the impact and will notify you as soon as practicable.
11. Data Protection & Privacy
We process personal data in accordance with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018. Information collected during the ordering process (such as your name, delivery address, email, and phone number) is used solely for the purposes of fulfilling your order, providing customer support, and communicating about your account.
We do not sell or share your personal data with third parties for marketing purposes. Full details of how we handle your data are set out in our Privacy Policy.
12. Complaints Procedure
If you are dissatisfied with any aspect of our products or service, please contact us in the first instance at help@coboltfurniture.co.uk or call 01279 972 616. We aim to acknowledge all complaints within 2 working days and to resolve them as quickly as possible.
If we are unable to resolve your complaint to your satisfaction, you may refer the matter to an appropriate alternative dispute resolution (ADR) provider or to the courts.
