Q: Is the chair real leather?
A: The chair is leather faced. This means the main contact areas (seat and back) are covered in genuine split leather for a soft, premium feel, while the non-contact areas (back and sides) use colour-matched faux leather for durability and value.
Q: Does the chair recline?
A: Yes. It features a standard tilt lock mechanism. You can pull the lever out to "unlock" the chair and rock back freely, or push it in to lock the chair in the upright working position.
Q: What is the benefit of tufted stitching?
A: Apart from the elegant look, the tufted stitching helps to keep the internal foam padding in place, preventing it from bunching up or sagging after long-term use.
Q: Are the arms adjustable?
A: No. The chair features fixed arms. This ensures a solid, stable structure and eliminates the "wobble" sometimes found in adjustable arms on plush chairs.
Q: Is it difficult to assemble?
A: No. The chair comes flat-packed with clear instructions. Assembly typically involves slotting the castors and gas lift into the base and bolting the arms and mechanism to the seat/back. It usually takes 15-20 minutes.
Q: What does BS 1335-1 compliant mean?
A: It means the chair's critical dimensions (seat height, depth, width, etc.) have been measured and verified to meet British Standards for office furniture. This ensures it is ergonomically suitable for the majority of the UK population.
Q: Is it suitable for carpet?
A: Yes. The "easy glide" castors are designed to work well on standard office carpet tiles. For hard floors (wood/laminate), we recommend using a chair mat to prevent scratches.
